At our Ministry Area Council meeting in November 2023 we agreed to support the Birth Partner Project, and agreed that as we had already decided on Christmas charities, we would do this in February/March this year.
The Birth Partner Project provides volunteer birth partners for women seeking asylum and refugee women and who would otherwise be alone during their pregnancy, birth, and postnatally. All volunteers are giving training and support for their roles and the trustees include a refugee mother and a senior midwife, giving some balance at that level. You can find more details on their website https://www.birthpartnerproject.org/
They are based in Cardiff and so this is a local giving project.
Lent giving donations of disposable nappies of all sizes and baby wet wipes are most welcome, as these mothers cannot afford necessities for their babies and young children.
Each church has a large bag for donations, so please, if you are able, think about adding something on to your usual shopping list.
This project supports our Ministry Area Action Plan, Action 6 social justice strand.
Thank you so much for all your support.
