About Iwan Russell-Jones

Iwan’s family moved around South Wales while he was growing up – first Risca, then Llanelli and finally Cardiff. His dad was a Baptist minister and at one point Iwan thought that he, too, might be called to ordained ministry. So he set off to study at the London School of Theology, where he met his wife, Amanda. He soon decided that ordination was not his calling, and he continued with his theological studies intending to teach at college or university level. But his life took a very different direction when he landed a job with the BBC as a producer, first in radio then in television, and worked on all kinds of programmes in religion, factual documentaries, education and news and current affairs. During breaks in his broadcasting career, and since leaving the BBC, he has taught at a number of theological colleges in the UK, the USA and Canada.

Although he has never been ordained, Iwan has always believed that the call to follow Jesus Christ is the most important thing in his life. He is passionate about teaching and exploring the Christian faith and helping others to understand its meaning for our lives today.
