Baptisms

The baptism of a child, sometimes called a Christening, recognises that every child is a precious gift, made in God’s image and likeness. We would love to help organise a baptism for you, which is open to anyone at every stage in life. Parents ask special friends or relatives, who have been baptised themselves, to be godparents for their child.

Before the baptism, we will meet with you to help explain and plan what will happen during the service and answer any questions you may have.

If you wish to speak to someone, please contact one of our Vicars:

“Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptised by him. John would have prevented him, saying, ‘I need to be baptised by you, and do you come to me?’ But Jesus replied, ‘Let it be so now; for it is proper for us in this way to fulfill all righteousness.’ Then he consented. And when Jesus had been baptised, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw God’s Spirit descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from the heavens said, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.’ “
