Lent, Holy Week and Easter Services and Events

There are many services and events taking place over Lent, Holy Week and Easter across the Garth Ministry Area. These are a mix of more traditional services, family services, informal talks and social events. Everyone is welcome to join us.

MA ‘Come and Sing’ Evensong

We’re delighted that our next evensong will take place in Llandaff Cathedral on Sunday 12^th April. Singers very welcome! Please come along to Christ Church’s regular practice on Thursdays at 6pm, or to the cathedral on the day at 1.30pm. Music provided. Please also feel very welcome to join the congregation for the service at 4pm.

‘Sounds of Europe’ Concert

Presented by Marc Elton (baroque violin/viola) and Despina Homatidou (harpsichord). Thursday 9 April in St Catwg’s Church, Pentyrch at 7pm.

History

St. Mary & St. James Church was originally dedicated solely to St James, it was built in 1869 as a school. It continued in this role until replaced by the current village school on 1879. It was subsequently converted into a church. After St Mary’s Church, Nantgarw closed in 1983, St James’ amended its dedication to St. Mary and St. James Church in commemoration.
