Steve was Ministry Area Leader from April 2022 until he retired from active Parish Ministry in October 2023.

Steve had pastoral charge of: St Catwg’s Church, Pentyrch; St David’s Church, Groesfaen; St Ellteyrn’s Church, Capel Llanilltern; and Creigiau Church Hall

About Rev’d Steve Willson

Steve was Ministry Area Leader from April 2022 until he retired from active Parish Ministry in October 2023. The following was his biography at the time he left the Ministry Area.

Steve is a Newport boy who left school at 16 and worked for British Rail for 8 years as a signalling technician, in various places across South East Wales & the borders. After theological training in Nottingham Steve was ordained in 1990 and continued his training as a Curate in Lliswerry (Newport) and Risca (Gwent Valleys) before working in and leading teams in East Cardiff (Pontprennau, Pentwyn, Llanedyrn & Cyncoed) and Welshpool in mid-Wales before coming to The Garth in July 2021. He has been Team Leader here since April 2022. Steve is married to Jennie, who is a Product Owner for a software company and has 3 girls in their early 20s. A keen photographer, Steve has maintained his interest in railways and also played football for over 55 years! Watching Football, Rugby and American Football are other passions, along with wildlife and the natural world.
